Congressman Lou Barletta, an early Trump supporter who has been endorsed by the president, will be the Republican challenger to incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey this fall.
Barletta won the primary over Jim Christiana 62 to 38, and he will now face Casey. Barletta picked up 341,000 votes out of over 550,000 cast for the two Republican candidates. It’s a solid momentous start for Barletta, who has very good odds of beating Casey.
Barletta is an award-winning humanitarian for saving animals and animal rights, in addition to being a solid pro-industry Republican voice in the Congress. His support for Trump helped to carry the president to victory in the 2016 election in the Keystone State.
Interesting, Barletta lost only one county to Christiana: Allegheny County. He will have to do better there.
