Lunatic Israeli War Cabinet Member Threatens to Go to War With Hezbollah

On December 27, 2023, war cabinet member Benny Gantz said to reporters that Israel is looking to ramp up the intensity on their northern front against Hezbollah forces.
“I say to our friends around the world: The situation in the northern border necessitates change,” Gantz stated. “The time for a diplomatic solution is running out. If the world and the government of Lebanon don’t act to stop the fire toward northern communities and to push Hezbollah away from the border, the [Israeli army] will do that.”
On a previous occasion, Israeli media outlets had reported that the head of the Shtula Settlement Committee had remarked “We thought that Hezbollah would retreat to the north of the Litani, but what happened was that we retreated behind the Betzet River.”
The Israeli army stationed close to the Lebanese border have revealed that they are in a state of high alert. The Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Herzi Halevi stated: “We need to be prepared to strike if required.”
Israel has ramped up its attacks on South Lebanon with attacks on a nearly daily basis.
Hezbollah has made Israeli forces on the border sweat profusely, with them attacking settlements on a daily basis, which has displaced tens of thousands of settlers.
Israeli military officials and politicians have recently been warning of broadening the military campaign into Lebanon. On December 22, 2023, Israeli journalist Nadav Eyal, who cited leading senior army officials, declared that “all eyes are on the north. Tens of thousands of Israelis are internally displaced due to the war Hezbollah initiated immediately after Hamas attacked.”
“The general assessment in Israel is that diplomatic attempts vis-à-vis Hezbollah will fail, and the chances of war are increasing,” Eyal continued.
Israeli reserve general Yitzhak Brick has expressed his skepticism with Israel opening a new front in Lebanon noting how Israel could be overstretched militarily in such a conflict.
“Hezbollah today is equipped with 150,000 rockets and missile shells, and the main problem is that some of [these are] precise and heavy, weighing hundreds of kilograms,” Brick pointed out, calling attention to how Hezbollah forces “can hit targets such as power [plants], water [facilities], air force bases, and disrupt road traffic and [displace] the population.”
However, the Israeli state is apparently hell-bent on expanding a front in Lebanon, with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant recently proclaiming that “if Hezbollah wants to go up a level, we’ll go up five.”
In a recent speech, Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah spoke about Israel’s increasing aggression in South Lebanon.. “What is happening on our front is extremely important and influential … it will not remain restricted for too long […] All options on the Lebanese front are open. All choices are on the table.”
With Israel having to put up with constant tensions in the West Bank, in addition to getting mired in a protracted conflict in Gaza, opening up a new front in Lebanon will undoubtedly overstretch its military resources. As a result, there may be calls by Israeli officials for the US to step in and inject a massive dose of military aid.
Worse yet, the US could be prompted to put direct military resources on the ground in Lebanon.
Now, more than ever, the US needs to give Israel the cold shoulder and focus more on its internal affairs.
