Maine Rep. Wants Gun Control Because She was Frightened by a Man With His Hand in His Pocket

According to the Maine Examiner, a State Representative in Maine wants the legislature to pass gun control after seeing a man with a hand in his pocket.

Victoria Morales informed the Maine Legislature’s Judiciary Committee that witnessing a man with a hand in his pocket enter her children’s school was frightening. Therefore, this should be one of the many reasons the Maine Legislature pass gun control measures.

Morales made this declaration while the Judiciary Committee killed a series of gun control bills that would expand gun restrictions in Maine.

The Bangor Daily News contended that Rep. Morales’ declaration is a sign that there is a strong push for gun control among progressive Democrats. However, it was reported that a compromise was reached to strike down numerous gun control bills in Maine this year.

Indeed, this compromise between Republicans and some Democrats has significantly reduced the possibility of gun control passing during the current legislative session.

Morales’s voting record is very partisan in nature, with votes in favor of taxpayer-funded abortions and a bill that would allow abortions to be carried without a doctor present.

Over the last 5 years, Maine has seen its gun laws go in a more pro-gun direction, with liberty-friendly State Senator Eric Brakey championing the passage of Constitutional Carry.

At the moment, Maine is ranked as the 29th most pro-gun state according to Guns & Ammo magazine.
