Major Busload of Illegal Aliens Arrives in Downtown Los Angeles

On September 30, 2023, another bus filled with illegal aliens arrived in downtown Los Angeles. This bus load of migrants is the 20th of its kind since June.

“One bus with migrants on board from Texas arrived around 1:45 p.m. today at Union Station,” a statement from Mayor Karen Bass’s office highlighted. “This is the 20th bus that has arrived. The city has continued to work with city departments, the county, and a coalition of nonprofit organizations, in addition to our faith partners, to execute a plan set in place earlier this year. As we have before, when we became aware of the bus yesterday, we activated our plan.”

Once three buses filled with 109 illegal aliens arrived on September 29, Bass called attention to how “Governor [Greg] Abbott continues to put vulnerable lives in jeopardy with limited food and water on multi-day bus journeys to Los Angeles.”

These bus loads of migrants being sent to Los Angeles are a part of  Operation Lone Star (OLS), which is a joint venture being carried out by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Military Department on the southern border between Mexico and Texas. Abbott declared that Texas’s border region is “overwhelmed” by illegal alien invaders crossing the Mexican border, which he used as his justification for launching OLS.

During a recent interview with Fox News, Abbott stated “What we’ve seen is when Democrats have to face up to the reality of what Texas has to deal with every single day, they adopt the same approach that Texas has.”

“We need the president to start enforcing the immigration laws of the United States of America, period,” he continued.

Bass has been critical of Abbott arguing that his administration does not share sufficient information with the Los Angeles city government concerning the shipments. She said to KNX that if Abbott’s preoccupations and actions were legitimate and in good faith, then “someone in the government and Texas would notify us and coordinate with us.”

“We hear about the buses headed our way when they’re on the way. We have no idea who’s going to be on the bus, how many people it is or what condition they’re going to be in when they get here,” she said. “Sometimes they haven’t had any food, barely had enough water.”

Previously, on June 9, 2023, the Los Angeles City Council approved a motion looking to formally designate the city as a sanctuary city.

In the short term, the bus loads of illegal aliens are a good policy to use to demonstrate the many perils of the mass migration policy the left is pushing. However, Texas policymakers should be crafting policies that ultimately result in the arrest and deportation of illegal aliens.

By just sending illegal aliens to other parts of the country, red state elected officials are merely giving Open Borders Inc another chance to move illegal aliens into the interior of the country.
