Manchin Listens to Constituents, Will Vote “Yes” on Kavanaugh

A Democrat Senator from West Virginia decided to break party ranks and vote in favor of confirming Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after facing pressure from voters.

“Based on all of the information I have available to me, including the recently completed FBI report, I have found Judge Kavanaugh to be a qualified jurist who will follow the Constitution and determine cases based on the legal findings before him,” said Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) in a statement.

Manchin made it clear earlier this week that many of his constituents had been contacting him, instructing him to vote in favor of Kavanaugh. It seems that he was listening.

Big League Politics reported:

A video has surfaced from a public appearance by Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) in which attendees publicly press him to vote “yes” to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

As Manchin walked down the street, he had the following interaction with one of his constituents.

Constituent: “Vote for Kavanaugh! You gonna vote for the Judge?”
Manchin: “Wait till Friday, we’ll see…”
Constituent: “You don’t vote for him, I won’t vote for you…”
Manchin: “I gotcha. I heard that a lot…”
