McConaughey: Dems Want ‘Whole Loaf’ On Gun Control, But Willing To ‘Take A Slice’ This Time Around
Actor Matthew McConaughey played directly into the political left’s hand with his “emotional” response to gun control at the White House Tuesday afternoon.
Actor Matthew McConaughey took center stage at the White House briefing and called on Congress to “reach a higher ground” and pass gun control legislation in honor of the children and teachers killed in the school shooting in his hometown of Uvalde, Texas. https://t.co/Dd5OfmYeQK pic.twitter.com/wbshEfRwNA

“We need background checks,” McConaughey pleaded with the American people. “We need to raise the minimum age to purchase an AR-15 rifle to 21, we need a waiting period for those rifles, we need red flag laws and consequences for those who abuse them.”
McConaughey’s performance was in response to the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas – the actor’s hometown. During the speech, McConaughey tried to persuade the American people to give into the whole Democrat gun control agenda, even though most of their proposed measures would likely do nothing to prevent the next mass shooting. Just punish law-abiding gun owners – WATCH:

McConaughey has had a history of calling for extreme gun control measures. And he has even gone as far as supporting gun bans.
During a 2018 rally for the anti-gun March For Our Lives group in Austin, Texas, McConaughey said law-abiding gun owners needed to “take one for the team.”
“One, let’s ban the assault weapons for civilians. This is a no-brainer,” he said. “And to my friends out there, that are responsible owners of these assault weapons that they use for recreation, please let’s take one for the team and set it down.”

In an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier after speaking at the White House press briefing earlier that day, McConaughey said that Democrats want “the whole loaf” when it comes to restricting gun rights, but that they are willing to just “take a slice” this time around – WATCH:

According to McConaughey, he understands the bigger picture that Democrats want to disarm law-abiding gun owners by restricting firearms in America. And is now urging Republicans to give Democrats some of what they want right now.
“But the consensus word that I’m hearing and phrase is that this time is different, that there is some more momentum, that, on the Right, there are some things that they’re willing not staunchly say no to and consider, that on the Left, they’re willing to say, you know what, we may want the whole loaf, but we will take a slice of bread,” McConaughey said.
“So, I’m told that this is a novel thing happening right now, and this is a novel and special time happening right now, where, actually, something may change, instead of just talking about it, and nothing changes again for another 30 years,” he added.
Conservatives slammed McConaughey on Twitter over all of his gun control comments Tuesday night. Here are some of those responses:
Like the millions of law-abiding gun owners in the US who act responsibly every day?
We do not punish others categorically for someone else’s crime.

I don’t need Matthew McConaughey or any other Hollywood celebrity to tell me which guns I should or shouldn’t have.

The Biden White house enlisted Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey to solve the gun violence issue.
They are not a serious administration.

Matthew McConaughey" doesn’t know you have to get a background check before purchasing a weapon? Joe Biden must have written his script.

So Matthew McConaughey bashed the civil liberties of Americans today and the DC set is all excited.

The White House is so devoid of credible surrogates they’ve had to drag Matthew McConaughey off the set of yet another Magic Mike sequel to drone on about gun control.
Not alright, not alright, not alright!
