Media Claims Trump was ‘Shamed’ into Visiting Troops, POLITICO Confirms Trip was Planned for Weeks

As usual, members of our esteemed media were caught lying on Wednesday, this time about the motivations for President Donald J. Trump’s visit to Iraq to visit troops.

Much ado was made when Trump did not visit Iraq on Christmas Day. NBC said that he was the first president not to visit the troops as Christmastime, only to correct themselves after Trump left for Iraq late Tuesday night. This led leftists conclude that the media had “shamed” Trump into visiting our fine soldiers.

“Shaming him seems to work,” CNN’s Soledad O’Brien said in reply to a Tweet by Brit Hume.

Hume had noted that by the time left-wing actress had blasted Trump for not visiting the troops, he had already visited them. Hume blasted O’Brien for her apparent lack of understanding of the concept of time.

“Yes Ma’am,” he said. “Trump read this Tweet when it was posted and time-traveled himself back to yesterday and flew to Iraq. Genius take.”

“We have LONG called on Trump to visit the troops in a combat zone, said it was important, and we are glad he finally got around to it. It is the right thing to do. Bit make no mistake, he had to be shamed into doing so,” said progressive dark money group VoteVets.

“Trump had to be shamed into visiting the troops in Iraq,” said leftist LGBT Advocate magazine writer Dana Goldberg. “It’s pathetic.”

“Conventional Wisdon is that Trump is incapable of being shamed into anything,” said TIME writer Ian Bremmer. “If that turns out to be wrong (Iraq visit), it’s a good thing.

What was wrong was the assumption that Trump had to be “shamed” to visiting the war zone. Embarrassingly, these leftists were proved wrong by leftist POLITICO.

“According to a White House official, the Trump administration had been planning the trip for more than six weeks,” said a Wednesday POLITICO piece.

Of course, the piece chided Trump for not being able to keep his trip a secret, citing two of Trump’s remarks about a potential trip to a war zone. If POLITICO is prescient, and knew that Trump would be headed to Iraq, why didn’t they correct their friends at NBC before the formerly-respected news network shamelessly bashed Trump on Christmas? That is a question for another day.

Former Secret Service agent and right-wing commentator Dan Bongino cleared up the confusion on Twitter, too.

“Dear Libs, Presidential trips to conflict zones are NOT scheduled days in advance. They’re scheduled weeks in advance w/advance teams on the ground up to 1-2 weeks prior. Your dopey suggestion that Trump took this Iraq trip in response to your criticisms this week is just dumb,” he said.
