Media Shields Lizzo From ‘Fat-Shaming’ Comments After Artist Claimed She Was Oppressed During MTV Award Speech
In an attempt to virtue signal (which has become the norm of Hollywood award shows), artist Lizzo used her MTV acceptance speech to claim she is oppressed in America.
Lizzo while accepting the Video for Good award at the #VMAs:
“Your vote means everything to me, it means everything to making a change in this country … When you’re voting for your favorite artist, vote to change some of these laws that are oppressing us.” pic.twitter.com/19UpJv3rkD

Lizzo claimed during her big moment at MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) that “your vote means everything to me.” Then immediately got political.
Adding “it means everything to making a change in this country … When you’re voting for your favorite artist, vote to change some of these laws that are oppressing us.”
Of course, Lizzo is the opposite of oppressed. Which is evident in the fact she is being recognized publicly for her music. Critics shared the same reaction:
Nothing screams oppression like than being given an idol made out of precious metals and lauded in front of millions. It’s a hard-knock life. https://t.co/1U7N6wK05S

“Lizzo has a net worth of 12 million dollars and is a media darling, whose immense girth keeps getting worshiped undoubtedly leading to kids everywhere living unhealthy lifestyles,” @thequartering wrote.
“Lizzo is not oppressed and is in fact actively causing harm,” he added.

But of course, the real story here is not in Lizzo’s comments, it lies in the fat-shaming culture that the star claims is oppressing her.
As various voices call out Lizzo for being overweight and using her body as a form of female empowerment, the media continues to supply shade by smearing anyone who draws attention to the unhealthy lifestyle.
Per People Magazine:
Lizzo has been open about her struggles with body image in the past, and has long been an advocate for positive body image, encouraging her followers to embrace their bodies at any size.
She’s also called out those who assume those with larger bodies automatically have health issues, saying “health is not just determined on what you look like on the outside.”
“I think I have a really hot body! I’m a body icon, and I’m embracing that more and more every day,” Lizzo has said.
Case and point: Lizzo can cry victimhood all she wants. The media will do everything in their power to keep her claims propped up at American’s expense.
She is truly becoming the idol of progressive Hollywood. And anyone who calls that out is instantly deemed a bigot and portrayer of oppression.
No wonder nobody is tuning into award shows anymore. All criticism is immediately deemed as insensitive and unwarranted.
