Mexican Cartels are Wielding Anti-Tank Rocket Launchers

Mexico has been mired by a nearly two-decade war against drug cartels. Many of these criminal entities have carved out de facto statelets in the country as they have overpowered Mexican authorities.
Mexican drug cartels have gained notoriety for illegally acquiring modern military gear from nations of the Collective West. A recent incident highlighted this alarming trend.
On May 31, 2023, Mexican Television channel Milenio posted an article entitled “Mexican cartels prepare for a war; they have military grade ROCKET LAUNCHER” that shows a video of a Gulf Cartel (Cartel Del Golfo, CDG) member carrying a “military-grade grenade launcher during a checkpoint in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.”
Milenio’s host Azucena Uresti highlighted that the rocket launcher is a Raytheon-produced FGM-148 Javelin which has been sent to Ukraine in the effort to bleed Russia dry. She observed that the rocket launcher’s price on the black market can range from $20,000 to $60,000.
However, Tyler Durden of ZeroHedge noted that after careful inspection, the rocket launcher might actually be an AT-4. This is a Swedish-produced disposable anti-tank launcher, which was also deployed to Ukraine along with the Javelins. Now, these military weapons are popping up in Mexican border towns as the US’s southern border is imploding.
This is what happens when weapons are recklessly sent abroad in geopolitical conflicts that don’t uphold the US’s national interests. Such unaccountable transfers will wind up in bad hands which spells trouble for international stability. Combine that with the US’s porous border and you have all the makings of a potential cartel infiltration of the US that could go kinetic and witness the preventable deaths of Americans.
Hopefully, policymakers rethink the invade the world, invite the world dynamic they’ve imposed on the US. This type of political order is a veritable death sentence for the Historic American Nation.
