Miracles do in fact exist! A baby boy who was born prematurely at just less than 6 months of pregnancy was recently discharged after almost a year of hospitalization following his delivery at 23 weeks on June 2, 2021.

Chay Jefferys initially weighed just one pound and spent 9 months fighting for his life and battling chronic lung disease, The Epoch Times reports.

“I was in such agony and being given all sorts of antibiotics—I can’t think of another reason that he would have been born so early,” the boy’s mother, Megan Mcgee, said. “The doctors agree with me that it was probably the antibiotics that triggered my early labor.”

Mcgee recalled the intense and worrisome days following the birth of her child.

“When he was born, he didn’t cry as he wasn’t breathing,” his mother said. “It was horrible not knowing what was going on, but a really lovely nurse took a little video of them working on him, so I had an idea of what was happening.”

Reports indicate that doctors first resuscitated the 1-pound-infant before quickly transferring him to the University College London Hospital in Holborn, as they were allegedly more able to provide adequate care for the family.

The ensuing 9 months proved to be very challenging — Chay spent months suffering from chronic lung disease as his parents repeatedly denied any and all requests by medical personnel that they pull the plug on his life for good.

“I said ‘no’ right away. He had fought so hard. I wasn’t going to give up on him,” Mcgee said. “They kept suggesting it, but he just kept getting bigger and better and so eventually they stopped asking.”

Chay has since been discharged from the hospital and now resides with his parents at home.

“He still needs a bit of oxygen, but they think he’ll be off that in a few months, too,” his mother said. “It’s wonderful.”

The topic of human rights in the United States as they pertain to children both before and even after birth has gained a lot of controversy in recent political debates as Democrats running the state of California have made moves to pass a new bill moving to legalize infanticide.

The California Family Counsel was one of the first groups to highlight the language of the bill that enables infanticide:

“The proposed legislation would shield a mother from civil and criminal charges for any ‘actions or omissions’ related to her pregnancy, ‘including miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion, or perinatal death.’ Although definitions of ‘perinatal death’ vary, all of them include the demise of newborns seven days or more after birth.”

The bill, AB 2223, passed the California Assembly Health Committee on an 11-3 vote last month.
