Neoconservative Harpy Victoria Nuland Resigns From Position As Ukraine War Turns Into Disaster
On March 5, 2024, Victoria Nuland, the under secretary of state for political affairs, announced her resignation from her position.
According to a statement issued by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Nuland is set to be replaced by John Bass, under-secretary of state for management, who will assume this role on an acting basis.
“It’s Toria’s leadership on Ukraine that diplomats and students of foreign policy will study for years to come,” Blinken declared in the statement, making a reference to Nuland’s support of Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s February 24, 2022 invasion.
“Her efforts have been indispensable to confronting (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, marshaling a global coalition to ensure his strategic failure,” Blinken continued.
Nuland has worked as under-secretary of state for political affairs since 2021 and served as the acting deputy secretary of state for several months until Kurt Campbell ended up assuming the role.
Nuland is part of a broader neoconservative tribe that has dominated US foreign policy for the last 50 years. She is the wife of Robert Kagan, one of the most prominent neoconservatives in the US.
Nuland is a consummate creature of the foreign policy establishment. She worked for several presidential administrations — serving as the deputy foreign policy advisor to then-Vice President Dick Cheney (2003-2005) and the US representative to NATO during the Bush administration.
While Barack Obama occupied the White House, Nuland was a State Department spokeswoman and subsequently served as the assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. She gained international notoriety for backing the Maidan protests in Ukraine that led to the toppling of former President Victor Yanukovych’s government.
Nuland’s most notorious moment was a phone call between her and then-US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt that went viral in February 2014, where the two US officials were talking about who should succeed Yanukovych — who subsequently fled the country not too long after this call.
The 2014 Euromaidan Revolution sparked a high degree of Ukrainian nationalism that brought about the civil war in the Donbas, prompted Russia to annex Crimea, and led NATO to begin sending military and intelligence support to Ukraine. These developments largely motivated the February 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Nuland is an interventionist parasite of the highest order. In a rational society, she would be reduced to pauper status.
Sadly, she will likely “fail forward” and be rewarded with a nice sinecure in an NGO. That’s how things go down in Clown World USA.
