NEW POLL: Over 20% of College Students Indicated Support for Hamas

According to a recently published poll by the college statistic website Intelligent.com, 22% of college students sympathize with Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
In addition, the poll revealed that just 25% of university students assert to be “very knowledgeable” about the current war between Israel and Hamas that followed the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack against the Jewish state.
86% of students indicated that they have learned about the Hamas-Israel conflict from social media, whereas a third of students stated they never or rarely verified the information they consume.
”Among the 99% of respondents who say they’ve used social media in the past three weeks, 32% say they see information about these issues all the time on social media, while 41% say they do often,” Intelligent.com noted . “Additionally, 19% say they see information about these issues some of the time, while 6% say not very often. Only 1% of social media users say they never see related information on their channels.”
26% signaled their support for the Israeli government.
”Sympathy is highest for Palestinian civilians among college students. Eighty-two percent of students feel sympathy for Palestinian civilians, while 72% sympathize with Israeli civilians,” the site highlighted. “However, twice as many students say they feel not much or no sympathy towards Israeli civilians compared to Palestinian civilians (12% compared to 5%).”
Indeed, there are growing Hamas supporters due to the US’s changing demographics. Among certain segments of the anti-Zionist movement, there has been a framing of this conflict as a white (Israel) vs. non-white (Palestine) conflict. This relates to many people in the woke movement who view conflicts under such a binary.
America First nationalists on the other hand don’t take sides in this conflict. Instead, they believe that the US should stop subsidizing both Israel and Palestine. On top of that, they support the recalibration of relations with Israel in a way where it’s treated like a normal country and not part of an entangling alliance.
