New Poll: Sexual Orientation, Transgender Issues

Sexual Orientation and Transgender Issues

It probably comes as no surprise to Big League Politics readers that most Americans support banning the teaching of topics like sexual orientation and transgender issues to K-3 children.

The latest Golden/TIPP poll supports this notion, showing broad support for the newest Florida law, which the media was quick to dub the “don’t say gay” bill.

“When I first heard about Florida’s Parental Rights bill, I was shocked it only protects children K-3,” said former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) “Third grade? How about 12th grade — or not at all.”

According to the poll, 57% of Americans agreed with the legislation while only 31% disagreed. Showing that Americans are nearly twice as likely to support the law than oppose it.

The poll also found that 69% of Americans believe it is better for children to learn about these topics from their parents at home, rather than in school. Only 22% said they would prefer for children to learn about these topics in school.

When asked specifically about transgender issues, the poll found that 52% of Americans think it is inappropriate to teach K-12 students about transgender issues in school, while only 28% think it is appropriate.

“Interestingly, a majority, irrespective of party affiliations and ideologies, backed the bill, except for liberals,” the pollsters said.

These results are not surprising given the outrage we’ve seen from parents across the country when they find out what schools are teaching their children these topics without their consent or knowledge.

This new Florida bill notably led to the current feud between sunshine state Gov. Ron DeSantis and media conglomerate Disney, with neither party backing down to the others demands and politics towards these forms of adult content.

Disney, for instance, has actually doubled down on its rhetoric. Opting to add even more LGBTQ themes to its media in coming products. Despite heavy backlash from vocal parents – it’s target demographic.

Many have noticed the large role activists play in promoting transgenderism in children’s content, not to mention the classroom.

For example, the new children’s show “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” features a transgender character, while shows like “Steven Universe” have numerous LGBTQ themes throughout its run.

It’s worth noting that this poll also found that a majority of Americans (51%) believe that there is too much discussion of transgender issues in the media. With only 20% believing there is not enough discussion and 29% who say it’s about right.

Clearly, the culture wars are raging on, with no end in sight. And as parents continue to be left out of the conversation – it’s hard to see how things will change anytime soon.
