New Study Shows 1 Billion Firearm Magazines Are in Circulation
On April 12, 2024, the National Foundation for Gun Rights (the National Association for Gun Rights’ legal arm) announced a critical piece of evidence that demonstrates the blatant unconstitutionality of the Colorado state government’s magazine prohibition.
NFGR’s lawsuit Gates v. Polis has the goal of overturning the magazine ban.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation published a study on April 12 revealing that firearm magazines of over 10 rounds in capacity have widespread usage nationwide. On top of that, the study demonstrates that there are close to a billion magazines in circulation, with 74% having the capacity to hold 11 rounds or higher. Close to 46% of the magazines in circulation are capable of holding 30 rounds or higher.
“This NSSF report proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, with indisputable evidence, that standard-capacity magazines are in common use and therefore may not be banned under the Second Amendment and the Supreme Court’s Heller and Bruen precedents,” declared Hannah Hill, Executive Director of the National Foundation for Gun Rights (NFGR).
The federal district court judge involved in the Gates v. Polis case granted the Attorney General’s request to throw out NFGR’s expert witness report testifying that the prohibited magazines are in common use nationwide.
“This study solidifies our argument against arbitrary and capricious magazine bans in our lawsuits in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Hawaii,” declared Dudley Brown, president of the National Association for Gun Rights. “Magazine bans are unconstitutional, and this study is the nail in the coffin that will end them once and for all.”
Magazine bans are just one of the many ways Gun Control Inc tries to undermine the Second Amendment. When they can’t get full-fledged gun grabs, gun controllers will go for more marginal forms of gun control just to get their foot in the door.
To prevent Gun Control Inc. from gaining any further momentum, gun rights activists must be ready to derail gun grabs be it through electioneering, citizen lobbying, or litigation.
