New York Populist Republican Throws Hat in The Race For State Senate

Well known populist New Yorker Stefano Forte took to Twitter Monday night declaring his candidacy for state senate. In a thoughtful tweet, Forte declared “after much reflection and prayer and consulting with my family and community leaders, I’ve decided to throw my hat in the ring and run to represent North Queens in the New York State Senate.” Forte is running for State Senate in District 11.

Forte told Big League Politics he is running “because I see the decay of my neighborhood, the few and well connected Albany politicians don’t care about the needs of their constituents. I see home prices and crime rising and our small businesses closing. I want to run because one of us has to step up for a change.”

Stefano has spoken at anti vaccine mandate rallies in New York City. He is an active member of The Bull Moose Project a national populist movement. In addition, he has experience in a number of local Republican campaigns.

Forte describes his political ideology as “closest to that of Teddy Roosevelt and Curtis Sliwa. I am not the typical Republican in the sense that I am a populist I believe the people should have a say in how they are governed.”

“Lastly (Stefano stated) my candidacy is going to put the people of Queens before the corporate interests. Our neighbors suffered through almost two years of a pandemic that destroyed our quality of life. The same politicians who put us in this mess cant be the ones to get us out of it. I want to be someone working men and women can be proud to call their State Senator because they know I work for them.”

Stefano told BLP “I absolutely think I can win, I wouldn’t run unless I thought it was winnable. Vickie Paladino and Curtis Sliwa killed it in North East Queens and showed that there is a path to victory for a Republican here.”
