New York Times is Dragged on Twitter Over Covering for Jan 6 Provocateur Ray Epps

The New York Times is getting dragged over an article they published painting Ray Epps in a positive light. Epps is the former Oath Keeper who was seen on video provoking people on the day of Jan. 6 around the U.S. Capitol.
Reporter Adam Goldman claimed that uncensored video of Epps demanding people storm the Capitol is the result of “selectively edited videos” and a conspiracy theory. His article painted Epps in a sympathetic light.
Obscure right-wing media outlets, like Revolver News, used selectively edited videos and unfounded leaps of logic to paint him as a secret federal asset in charge of a “breach team” responsible for setting off the riot at the Capitol.

Twitter users were not buying it:
Ray Epps is the only right wing person they defend

You're basically lying for a dude who was seen on video multiple times trying to rally the mob to go into the building. People started yelling "Fed" at him because He was doing it so much.

Video of him pushing “must go inside Capitol” endlessly are all on him. No need to exaggerate, as he is seen all over the place, over & over again. He is an instigator, no matter what else is true or not. — Why is he not charged? Why is he not awaiting trial?

I guess him telling people to go to the Capitol and break in was not him? Him telling everyone the day before to make sure they went to the Capitol to riot was innocent? All the videos of him telling others to do things. Oh, ok…..🤡

Is this really supposed to make us feel sorry for him? This could go away if they would answer questions about him. Explain the videos. Why is DOJ rejecting FOIA request ? Why hasn’t he testified? Why was he taken off FBI wanted list and not in jail?

Big League Politics reported on how Epps lawyered up with a man with a great deal of experience with the federal government:
“Ray Epps, the Oath Keepers activist who has been widely accused of being a federal asset for stirring people up in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol discussion, has hired an attorney who worked for the FBI for nine years.
Darren Beattie of Revolver News broke the news that Epps hired a former FBI agent as a lawyer:
[Ray Epps' lawyer] has seen it all, his biggest asset is his relation with prosecutors and law enforcement in ways other lawyers cannot because of his background…

Epps can be seen here talking to right-wing livestreamer Tim “Baked Alaska” Gionet where he called for Trump supporters to enter the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6:

Strangely, despite his apparent inciting behavior, Epps has not been thrown in jail or even charged with a crime. Recently, he had Jan. 6 commission members defending his character in public after Republicans suggested the possibility of Epps being a federal asset, making the entire situation seem even more fishy:
2) He was on video the day before Jan 6 saying “we’re going INTO the capitol!” The some in the crowd chanted “fed fed fed.” Why? Who knows, maybe they knew he was videoed talking about breaking into the Capitol the day before it was to happen and wanted to create distance?

4) He didn’t enter the Capitol on Jan 6, and was removed from the most wanted list because apparently he broke no laws. I’m pretty sure the FBI wouldn’t be dumb enough to put their own agent on a wanted list. Ray Epps has cooperated with the Jan 6 committee and we thank him

6) An FBI informant is someone that is paid by or turned by law enforcement as they build broader cases. Informants are usually criminals that turn to save their own butt. An informant is not an agent. But Ted wants you to think it is. RAY is NO informant either.

While it may break hearts, it’s true. So many are misled by so few. Just look up.

… Epps’ choice of attorney is not going to quell the chatter about the possibility of him being a federal asset. There are still many questions about Jan. 6 that remain unanswered.”
While Epps struts around a free man, real patriots who protested election fraud on Jan. 6 are being tortured and held in federal custody.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has led the charge to get justice for Jan. 6 defendants who are being treated as prisoners of war by an illegitimate coup government.
“One of the things I did last week in California is I toured the border, and I also got to see one of the detention facilities that ICE and our U.S. Marshalls use, and I can tell you for a fact illegals that break our laws…are treated far better than the Jan. 6 defendants,” she said.
“We should be a nation that has laws, law and order, and justice in our courts, but not a nation that treats people so badly just because we disagree with their political stance,” Greene added.
The fact that Epps’ reputation is being defended by the fake news media and Democrat machine just gives more credence to the theory that he is a federal agent.
