Nikki Haley Says Legal Immigrants are Often More Patriotic than American Leftists

Former South Carolina Governor and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley believes that legal immigrants in America are often more patriotic than leftists in the present.

During a campaign event in Springfield, Pennsylvania for United States Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz, Haley said before a crowd, “Legal immigrants are more patriotic than most Americans these days.”

Josh Kraushaar, the senior political correspondent at Axios, provided a full quote of Haley’s statement:

My parents came here because they wanted a better life for their family…they came here legally…legal immigrants are more patriotic than most Americans these days. Because they appreciate how wonderful this country is.

She echoed these sentiments on the Dom Giordano Program:

Legal immigrants are often more patriotic than the Left these days. Instead of bashing America, they know that in this country, you can work hard and be anything you want to be.

This talking point will likely be used by other neoconservative members of the GOP to justify the expansion of legal immigration. While it’s good to see foreigners appreciate American values, America is more than just ideas or economic output. It’s a people and place.

The problem here is that Haley’s statement will be used by GOP hacks to call for increased immigration at a time when America’s working class and even lower-ranking members of its professional class are in a precarious economic state. Expanding the labor pool to foreign migrants will only make their situation even worse.

One of the biggest challenges America First will have is making sure to keep these pro-cheap labor elements of the GOP in check. This factional struggle will be one of the biggest intra-party fights in the next few decades. If we want to save the Historic American Nation from demographic destruction, the America First faction of the party must come out on top.
