No Evidence Kathy Barnette Supports BLM

Is false information being peddled by certain actors of the right? Tensions have ramped up in conservative circles since upcoming Pennsylvania Senate candidate Kathy Barnette tied in a recent poll with candidate David McCormick and the Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz after what was considered by many to be a fiery debate performance.

Clips featuring parts of Barnette’s debate went viral online shortly thereafter, with one popular moment showing the senate candidate calling Oz and McCormick “globalists” before she pointed out that they both hold deep ties to the World Economic Forum. More on that here.

Some actors on the right have remained explicitly opposed to Barnett’s campaign, with many going as far as to share carefully doctored videos filmed by Barnett in the past in an effort to falsely frame her as a supporter of the radical ‘Black Lives Matter’ organization. One such person who engaged in sharing such content was former Trump Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.

To quote a famous man: “You are fake news!”

A report out of UncoverDC elaborated on these intentionally-misleading attacks further:

Barnette, who lost in 2020 to Democrat incumbent Madeleine Dean in the race for Pennsylvania’s 4th Congressional District, shared her firmly held views in the months leading up to the Nov. 2, 2020, election. One such moment was a live Facebook video she recorded on July 13, 2020. Short, strategically cut clips from that video are circulating on Twitter to paint Barnette (who used the hashtags #BLM and #DeFundThePolice when sharing her video to get people’s attention and spread her message) in an unfavorable light.

One Twitter post frequently shared by opposers of the Barnette campaign featured an out-of-context post with the hashtags “#BLM” and “#DeFundThePolice.” Grenell and others claimed that the post proves that Barnette either is or was a supporter of such an extremist cause.

There is just one problem; it could not be farther from the truth.

Here is an excerpt from one of the videos being edited, posted, and circulated around in an attempt to convince conservative voters that Barnette supports the radical causes:

“Defunding the police is stupid, people. Abolishing the police is stupid, people. Black people—do not fall for the Okie Doke. Do not fall for these white liberals who are coming into our communities and telling us we need to remove law enforcement because, let me tell you; they have the money to pay for private security.

Our “black lives matter net global network incorporated” does not care about my black life. It does not care about the black lives of those who are just trying to work, who are trying to provide for their family, and who are keeping their nose clean. [Or those] who just want to be able to take their black child across the street, to the park, with the rest of their black family. This is stupid. All of it, all of it is stupid.

Changing names on football teams… how does that improve my black life? Painting graffiti or murals on the street and on walls? How does that improve my black life? How does that get me and my family good jobs? How does that make sure that we can walk outside of our home without being shot in the head? How does that do anything to make sure that I can send my babies off to college?”

Former President Trump has doubled down on his support of Dr. Mehmet Oz, recently posting an official statement announcing that “Kathy Barnette will never be able to win the General Election against the Radical Left Democrats,” and that “Dr. Oz is the only one who will be able to easily defeat the Crazed, Lunatic Democrat in Pennsylvania.”

Many supporters of the former president have criticized this decision, including Daily Wire commentator Matt Walsh, who said that “Trump continues to shill for a leftist who pushed puberty blockers, BLM, abortion, and gun control,” and he “might as well just endorse a Democrat. Literally no difference.”

Barnette remains a force to be reckoned with in the Pennsylvania GOP Senate primary, with current Trafalgar group polls putting her ahead of McCormick and a virtual tie with Mehmet Oz in her chances of winning the nomination.
