North Carolina Congressman Calls Out Visa, Mastercard, and American Express for Anti-Gun Corporate Policies
North Carolina Congressman Richard Hudson is furious about credit companies’ latest effort to undermine gun rights in California.
According to a CBS News report, credit card giants such as American Express, Mastercard, and Visa recently implemented a new merchant code that will be used to comply with a “California law that will allow banks to potentially track suspicious gun purchases and report them to law enforcement.”
This move was implemented after leading credit card companies walked back initial plans to use a new merchant code to track firearm and firearm-related purchases nationwide. At the time, it appeared that pro-gun pressure gave companies cold feet about implementing these anti-gun policies.
However, credit card companies appear to be planning to use a merchant code to keep tabs on firearm and firearm-related sales in order to abide by a new law in California. This law will go into effect in 2025.
Hudson offered his take on this insidious plot by corporate actors to undermine the Second Amendment: “Once again, credit card companies are attempting to track the information of lawful gun owners. This is yet another egregious ATTACK by the Far Left on Americans’ Second Amendment rights to bear arms.”
The North Carolina Congressman is correct to take these credit companies to task for their tyrannical behavior. It’s not just government agencies and state actors who are committing egregious violations against our freedoms. There are plenty of corporate actors that are willing to infringe on our freedoms.
This will necessitate the Right to take heavy-handed actions against these people lest it wants to become irrelevant as a political force.
