NY Governor Kathy Hochul Announces New Special Media “Surveillance Efforts” To Keep Tabs On “Hate”

As a response to the alleged growth of incidents involving harassment, above all, against Jewish and Muslim communities, New York Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced efforts to bolster the state’s counterterrorism measures. Of note, she is putting forward the controversial practice of snooping on social media platforms, and effectively mass surveilling the speech of New Yorkers and other American citizens.
This measure comes in the wake of growing tensions between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Many members of the ruling class, argue that there has been an uptick in anti-Jewish and anti-Muslim sentiment, which allegedly justifies the use of state intervention to police speech online. Hochul unveiled plans for bolstering the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force personnel and allocating an additional $2.5 million to the State Police.
The Hochul government is no fan of freedom. It’s what’s to be expected from any political actor in an anti-freedom state like New York. These states effectively serve as experimental testing grounds for all manner of tyrannical projects. What ends up being rolled out in New York will eventually be replicated in other states. Hence, the importance of liberty activists of keeping tabs on what’s going on in the Empire State.
In light of the growing tyranny that’s engulfing the state, conservative New Yorkers living in red counties should do everything possible to nullify unconstitutional measures coming from Albany. If they can’t do that, moving to greener pastures in red states may be the only option for New Yorkers.
