“Old As S***:” Democrat Operatives Predicts Biden Will Face Primary Challenger in 2024

A progressive campaign operative known for managing Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign is predicting that Joe Biden will face a primary challenge in 2024.
“Will there be a progressive challenger? Yes,” said Jeff Weaver, a longtime Sanders political operative, speaking to Politico in an article published Saturday.
A former communications operative for far-left member of Congress Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also cited Biden’s unpopularity and political fecklessness, predicting that a primary challenger would rise from the ranks of the Democratic Party.
“He’s deeply unpopular. He’s old as shit. He’s largely been ineffective, unless we’re counting judges or whatever the hell inside-baseball scorecard we’re using. And I think he’ll probably get demolished in the midterms,” said Corbin Trent. “People will smell opportunity, and D.C. is filled with people who want to be president.”
George HW Bush and Jimmy Carter were the last presidents to face serious primary challenges from their own party, with the latter losing to Ronald Reagan in 1980 after Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy torpedoed his reelection prospects through a primary challenge.
Biden has indicated that he’s planning on running for reelection, despite taking office as the oldest President in American history. The Democrat would be 87 by the time he would leave office in a second term, stretching the age range Americans are accustomed to with Presidents far greater than any of his predecessors.
It’s somewhat hard to imagine who a potential 2024 Biden challenger would be, with the Democratic Party’s bench somewhat thin and the party’s elected officials extremely obedient to DNC dictates insisting that they refrain from challenging the party’s sitting President. Bernie Sanders is even older than Biden, and other progressives such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lack Sanders’ ability to market themselves as a 1930’s style leftist who speaks primarily on issues of class and the US economic structure without the pollution of toxic liberal identity politics.
