PATHETIC: Republican Senators Propose Replacing ‘Columbus Day’ with ‘Juneteenth’ as National Holiday

Sens. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and James Lankford (R-OK) have proposed a legislative amendment that would replace “Columbus Day” as a federal holiday with “Juneteenth,” in another capitulation to the far-left mob.

Johnson and Lankford proposed the amendment to legislation proposed by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) that would make Juneteenth into a national holiday. The lawmakers felt the bill did not go far enough in virtue-signaling for liberals so they decided to tack on their proposed amendment.

The proposal would amend Section 6103(a) of title 5, United States Code by making June 19th an annual federal holiday, and striking Columbus Day, which takes place every second Monday in October, from the record. Juneteenth refers to the date that a town’s slaves learned they were freed, and was not celebrated much outside of Texas until this year.

Black Lives Matter (BLM) terrorists have pushed Juneteenth in order to guilt white people regarding their supposed role in the enslavement of blacks. It goes along with the communist tropes of structural racism and white privilege that are regularly used to attack the Constitution and rule of law.

Big League Politics has reported about the ideological underpinnings of the BLM terror movement, including its Marxist founders and racist pseudo-history writers.

“We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and [BLM co-founder Alicia Garza] in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists,” said BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors.

“We are super versed on all sorts of ideological theories, and I think that what we really try to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” she added.

“[The whites] lasting monument was the destruction and enslavement of two races of people,” wrote Nikole Hannah-Jones, whose erroneous “1619 Project” won her a Pulitzer Prize.

“The descendants of these savage people pump drugs and guns into the Black community, pack Black people into the squalor of segregated urban ghettos and continue to be bloodsuckers in our community,” Hannah-Jones added.

BLM’s official website confirms that the movement is focused “on issues concerning racial injustice, police brutality, criminal justice reform, Black immigration, economic injustice, LGBTQIA+ and human rights, environmental injustice, access to healthcare, access to quality education, and voting rights and suppression.”

Johnson, Lankford, and other Republican cowards are appeasing the likes of these people as they wage a cultural revolution to destroy America. These Benedict Arnolds will be remembered by history in a worse light than the Marxists for folding at a time when strong leadership was needed the most.
