POLL: 30% of American Voters Believe the United States is Going in the Wrong Direction

In a recent Rasmussen poll, 30% of likely United States voters believe the country is going in the right direction. This poll was conducted for the week finishing on October 26, 2023.

65% of voters believe the nation is heading in the wrong direction, which is a two point increase from the previous week.

In the same timeframe in 2022, 29% of voters indicated that the US was going in the right direction, while 65% said it was on the wrong track.

Indeed, American voters have every reason to believe that the country is going in the right path. From the country’s reckless foreign policy, rising inflation, collapsing border, surging crime — among the multitude of problems popping up left and right — the US is clearly being mismanaged by its political elites.

In fact, one could argue that US leaders are working to purposely destroy the country. For that reason, people are losing faith in the overall political system. This does not augur well for the country’s political stability as its institutions degrade and people no longer feel it necessary to defend a nation they perceive as alien.

History has demonstrated that when polities lose the public’s confidence, all manner of turmoil begins to surface. The US’s ruling class can pound its chest about being exceptional all it wants, it’s not exempt from the rules of basic statecraft. When a country can no longer bring economic prosperity and personal security for its citizens, it is not long for this world.
