POLL: 30% of Trump Voters Want a President that Is Ready to Exercise Power On Their Behalf

Roughly 30% of Trump supporters are in favor of the former president proactively using state power to advance an America First agenda.
The poll’s question was phrased in the following manner:
Some people say things in the U.S. are so far off track that we need a president willing to break some rules and laws to set things right, while others say the president should always follow the rules and laws. Which comes closest to your view?”
Voters who pulled the lever for Trump in 2020 were roughly twice as likely to support the extralegal view as Biden’s supporters in 202. Whereas 65% of Trump supporters signaled that a president should always comply with the rules and the law, 30% stated that circumventing regulations and laws could be viewed as justified actions.
With respect to Biden voters, 83% to 15% are against breaking rules and laws.
For its part, the Religion Research Institute has asked a similar question over the last few years. It specifically asked respondents a question about whether a president should be “willing to break some rules in if that’s what it takes to set things right.
America has reached a critical moment in its history where constitutional norms have been completely discarded. This means it will need a leader who is willing to exert power in a manner that advances American interests irrespective of the constitutionality of said actions.
Truth be told, the Constitution served as a political charter for an American political culture that was more homogenous and respectful of political norms. That time has long passed. Now, the US finds itself wrapped in an existential political struggle where one side (The Left) is playing to destroy the other side.
Abiding by the Constitution in this sensitive moment in American history is simply suicidal to say the least.
