POLL: Half of Americans Believe the United States Will Cease Being a Superpower Within 10 Years

According to a YouGov/Economist poll, half of the United States believes that the country will cease being a superpower within 10 years.

In addition, they believe there will be a “total economic collapse” within this same time frame.

Some highlights from the YouGov report:

Among 15 potential future scenarios involving instability or political violence, the one that most Americans consider likely in the next decade is that the U.S. ceases to be a global superpower (50% say this), followed by a total collapse of the U.S. economy (47%). Each of the 15 dire scenarios is considered somewhat or very likely in the next decade by at least 20% of Americans.

37% of Americans indicated that a civil war is at least somewhat likely to occur.

Republicans are more likely than Democrats to envision that the US will be going down the road of institutional breakdown in the upcoming decade. 65% of Republicans believe a complete economic collapse is at least somewhat likely. By contrast, 38% of Democrats shared similar views.

Nearly half of Republicans (48%) say it’s likely that the government will seize Americans’ firearms whereas only 17% of Democrats believe this. On top of that, Republicans are also more likely than Democrats to believe that the rule of law (49% compared to 31%) will break down and that the US will suffer a foreign invasion (41% vs. 24%).

Overall, this poll shows that Americans are losing confidence in the US government. What was once the most stable and prosperous polity in human history, the US is now becoming just another unstable nation marked by political instability and unrest.

The only way to turn this around is by bringing in an America First political class into power. This is how we can avert a large-scale institutional breakdown and pass on a prosperous society to future generations.
