POLL: Majority of Americans Believe a Depression is Around the Corner

Thanks to the Biden regime’s economic policies, Americans have grown jittery about the stock market. Moreover, a majority of Americans believe the United States could be on the verge of experiencing another Great Depression.

According to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 55% of American adults believe that the country could be hit with a 1930s-style depression in the next few years. This figure includes 25% who believe that a Great Depression 2.0 is very likely.

34% don’t think another depression is coming, while 11% are unsure.

At the start of June, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon issued a warning to investors, advising them to “brace yourself” for the incoming economic “hurricane.”

Only 28% said that the stock market will be higher in 2023, whereas 33% believe it will be lower. 20% expect the stock market to be roughly the same in 2023, while an additional 19% are unsure.

On a partisan basis, Republicans (48%) are more likely than Democrats (24%) to believe the stock market will plummet in 2023. Only 30% of independent voters believe the stock market will be performing worse in 2023.

71% of Republicans believe another Great Depression will likely take place in the next few years. However, only 42% of Democrats and 54% of independent voters agree.

America is clearly heading in a bad economic direction. From its burdensome regulatory state to its easy money policies, the US’s economic foundations are flimsy at best. Time will tell how long its Potemkin village of an economy will last.

In the meantime, right-wing populists must get serious about crafting a platform that focuses on down-sizing the administrative state and reducing the influence of central banking on the US economy.

The present managerial model is completely unsustainable.
