All told, the Maui wildfire is a telltale sign of the decline of the US’s infrastructure. After decades of spending untold billions of dollars on never-ending wars and profligate welfare programs, the US barely has the resources to keep the lights on.

It doesn’t help that the US has embraced affirmative action policies across all levels of government which further harms the upkeep of critical infrastructure. If the US doesn’t get its act together and doesn’t start focusing more on domestic affairs, more incidents like the Mau wildfire will proliferate, thereby making the US’s quality of life ever more squalid after each passing year.
