Polls Reveal Americans, Liberals Dramatically Overestimate Police Killings of Unarmed Black Men

New polling indicates that Americans massively overestimate the number of incidents involving unarmed black men being killed by police, with mainstream media fixation on a handful of incidents creating a false impression that thousands of unarmed black men are being killed every year.

Polling from the Skeptic Research Center indicates that more than 76% of self-described liberals believe that police killed at least 100 unarmed black men in 2019, with a slim plurality ascribing to the belief that police had killed more than 1,000.

In reality, Mapping Police Violence- a left-wing group- estimates of police killings involving unarmed black men at 27 in 2019.

Even conservatives have been psyoped in the notion that American police are regularly killing unarmed black people. A majority of self-described “conservatives” and “very conservative” people falsely believed that police killed more than 100 unarmed black men in 2019.

The 2019 police killings of unarmed people varied in their legality, with officers involved at times exonerated after an unarmed suspect attempted to take their gun or their tasers.

The polling also reveals that Americans wildly overstate the racial percentage of individuals who are killed by police. Data analyzed by the Skeptic Research Center indicates that 25% of those killed by police in 2019 were black. Poll respondents stated that a full 50% of those killed by police in various circumstances were black, with 58% of liberals believing as such as 41% of conservatives agreeing. In reality, the majority of people killed by police are identified as white, using the US Census practice of counting white Hispanics as such.

Incidences of unarmed white people being killed by police receive a mere sliver of the public attention reserved for cases such as George Floyd’s and Breonna Taylor’s. The 2016 shooting of a Texas man named Daniel Shaver has been called the most heinous police shooting in decades, with a Mesa, Arizona police officer shooting the unarmed, panicked and intoxicated man as he crawled on the floor of a hotel hallway.

Public support for the Black Lives Matter street terror movement has plummeted nearly a full year after the riot movement emerged in force, with the public increasingly skeptical of the false narrative that American police are regularly and consistently killing people without justification.
