Populists Revolt Over President Trump’s Proposed Endorsement of Bush Crony for U.S. Congress in Tennessee

There is widespread backlash growing over social media against President Trump’s potential endorsement of Bush-era operative Morgan Ortagus for the 5th Congressional seat in the state of Tennessee.

The National Pulse broke the story of how Ortagus pledged fealty to the Biden regime after the fraudulent 2020 presidential election.

“As I’ve often said, no matter what happened with the election, I was moving on and going back into the Navy Reserves. Now, like most of you, I put the career hat back on (or rather my Navy uniform!) and go in to faithfully serving the incoming Biden Administration. Catch you on the other side,” Ortagus said in her departing email as she left her role as spokesman for the State Department under Trump.

Furthermore, she called her Biden-appointed successor, Ned Price, “fantastic,” telling her former colleagues that they were “in great hands.”

Populists are enraged that Ortagus received a preemptive endorsement over Robby Starbuck, a right-wing commentator who has announced for the same Congressional seat. Starbuck has been endorsed by Sen. Rand Paul, TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, former Trump DNI Ric Grenell, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, Rep. Madison Cawthorn, and the Republicans for National Renewal.

Right now, Ortagus has not officially announced her run for Congress but President Trump made it clear that Ortagus will have his full support if she ultimately pulls the trigger.

“I am told the very strong and impressive Morgan Ortagus is exploring a run for Congress in Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District. I couldn’t be happier because she’s an absolute warrior for America First and MAGA! Morgan was fantastic in her role working with Secretary Mike Pompeo at the U.S. State Department and understands the threats posed by China, Russia, Iran and others, and will be tough, not just roll over like the Democrats and RINOs,” Trump announced through his Save America PAC on Wednesday.

Many are taking to Twitter to express their frustrations:

Only time will tell if Trump reconsiders his endorsement of Ortagus. Trump has issued endorsements in favor of RINOs in the past, such as Sen. Ben Sasse, Rep. Liz Cheney and Sen. Mitt Romney, and it is time for the president to learn from his mistakes and support America First champions consistently with his endorsements.
