President Trump Cancels Jan. 6 Press Conference, Blaming ‘Total Bias and Dishonesty’ of House Select Commission
President Donald Trump has cancelled his press conference scheduled to take place at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Jan. 6, the one-year anniversary of the historic protest against election fraud that turned violent under federal influence at the U.S. Capitol.
“In light of the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media, I am canceling the January 6th Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday,” Trump said in an email blast issued through his Save America PAC.
The president added that he “instead will discuss many of those important topics at my rally on Saturday, January 15th, in Arizona.”
“What has become more and more obvious to ALL is that the LameStream Media will not report the facts that Nancy Pelosi and the Capitol Sergeant-at-Arms denied requests for the D.C. National Guard or Military to be present at the Capitol. Their emails and correspondence with the Department of Defense exist, but the media won’t ask for this evidence, or report the truth!” Trump said.
Even though Trump is spinning this as a win, some of his most devoted supporters, including Florida U.S. Congressional candidate Laura Loomer, are disappointed by his cancellation.
“It’s a shame that President Donald Trump canceled his January 6th press conference. I was really looking forward to it,” she wrote in a Telegram post.
“It would have been a great opportunity to raise awareness about the corrupt January 6 committee and the January 6 political prisoners,” Loomer added.
Big League Politics has reported on how Trump has dropped the ball on calling for justice for the Jan. 6 political prisoners being tortured in federal custody, with only a small handful of America First lawmakers championing their cause:
“Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Louie Gohmert (R-TX) were locked out of a federal prison where Jan. 6 protesters are being held and reportedly tortured by authorities.
These four intrepid lawmakers have been the elected officials who have cried foul about the alleged mistreatment behind bars of Jan. 6 protesters, the vast majority of whom committed no violence and peacefully protested on that fateful day.
They were locked out of the facility when they attempted to enter:
Eventually, they were able to get in the lobby but reported hostile treatment from Capitol jail staffers and were not allowed to tour the facility:
After being locked out of the jail, Gaetz and Gohmert appeared with Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) for a press conference talking about the systemic injustices being doled out against Trump supporters as well as the attempted cover-up.
“Every day in America, people are locked in prison. It’s not every day that people are locked out of prison, which is what happened to multiple members of Congress today,” Gaetz said.
“We have two principle responsibilities: to appropriate funds and to conduct oversight. How does the Biden administration expect us to participate in the representative republic when they deprive us of access to information that would inform our oversight work and our appropriations decisions?” he asked.
Gaetz is demanding answers that the feds have stonewalled for months about Jan. 6 defendants being denied evidence. He is also concerned about a possible FBI role in setting up the entire event. He is demanding access to all of the surveillance videos showing what happened in and around the Capitol on that day.”
Whether he is willing to admit it or not, Trump has caved on pushing for truth against the corrosive media-fabricated narrative on Jan. 6. He has squandered an amazing opportunity to push back against the federal agenda to demonize his supporters as domestic terrorists.
