‘Pro-Life’ Ted Cruz Skips Vote on Budget Amendment to Defund Planned Parenthood
A “true conservative” and alleged “pro-life” Senator skipped a crucial vote last week that would have given Republicans the opportunity follow through on the promise of defunding Planned Parenthood.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) opted to hit the campaign trail in Texas instead of voting on one of the top issues concerning his Republican constituents.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced an amendment last week to the Senate appropriations package funding the Departments of Defense, Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education that would have ceased all federal funding to Planned Parenthood.
The amendment was shot down by a vote of 45-48.
Turncoat “Republican” Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) voted “no” on the amendment, while Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and Deb Fischer (R-NE), like Cruz, did not bother to vote.
Paul clocked Republicans on the floor of the Senate for failing to deliver on their promise to the American people to defund Planned Parenthood’s death factories.
“Planned Parenthood ends the lives of 320,000 babies each year,” he said. “That’s about 900 babies every day. Planned Parenthood receives over $400 million of taxpayer money. The government, with a wink and a nod, tells us that Planned Parenthood doesn’t spend the money on abortions, but everybody knows that taxpayer is really cross-subsidizing Planned Parenthood’s abortion bills. My amendment would end funding to Planned Parenthood. My amendment is already included in the House version [of the bill], and yet my amendment is now being blocked… by Republicans.”
When GOP establishment shills like Cruz campaign on putting a stop to the murdering of unborn children, all they are doing is lying to attract voters. With control of the House, Senate and Presidency, they have still failed to act.
Cowardly Cruz and his like-minded “Republican” ilk ought to hang their heads in shame – or better yet, join the other party.
