Pro-Trump constituents of a Michigan congressman plan to protest him at his office next week.
“A group that supports President Donald Trump will host a rally denouncing U.S. Rep. Justin Amash, the first Republican in Congress to call for impeachment proceedings against Trump, on Friday, June 14, in Grand Rapids,” according to Michigan Live.
Amash has recently gone on several Twitter binges calling for Trump’s impeachment, despite the fact that former Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into alleged Russian “collusion” turned up empty. For his condemnation of the President, Amash has enjoyed a great deal of praise from the liberal media.
But his constituents are unhappy.
“We want to make sure he knows here in Michigan we support our president,” said Diane Schindlbeck, co-founder of Michigan Trump Republicans told Michigan Live. “Justin Amash, as one of the elected officials here in West Michigan, is not listening to his own voter base, and his behavior is just ridiculous.”
The group started an online petition against Amash, too. The petition says that Amash “has consistently attacked and opposed the work of President Donald Trump,” and calls for him to resign:
Now therefore be it resolved that the undersigned citizen of the 3rd Congressional District of Michigan does hereby call on Justin Amash to act in an honorable manner and immediate resign as Representative to Congress; and
Be it Further Resolved, that this call be sent to all members of Congress to inform them that Justin Amash has lost all credibility with the citizens of the 3rd Congressional District of Michigan and that he no longer has the right to speak on our behalf.
