Prosecutors Drop Charges Against Jail Guards Who Falsified Records Involving Epstein’s Death

Federal prosecutors in New York have dropped criminal charges against two jail guards accused of negligence surrounding Jeffrey Epstein’s death in a federal jail, on the day following Ghislaine Maxwell’s conviction for sex trafficking as the infamous pedophile’s “madame.”

Tova Noel and Michael Thomas, two officers who were employed at the infamous Metropolitan Correctional Center when billionaire pedophile allegedly died by his own hand, were charged with falsifying cell watch records the night Epstein died. The officers had been browsing sports news and shopping for furniture online instead of checking the status of each inmate detained in their pod. The two men later discovered Epstein’s dead body on the morning of August 11th, 2019.

The two officers, who were required to check on every inmate under their supervision every thirty minutes, admitted they purposely lied on watch forms as a condition of their court arrangement.

Charges were dropped as a result of a pre-trial diversion alternative offered to the men, which required their full cooperation in an internal Department of Justice investigation into Epstein’s death. The men also had to perform community service. Noel and Thomas had previously plead not guilty to the misconduct charges in November of 2019.

The plea agreement eschews the possibility of a criminal trial involving the correctional officers. Improprieties surrounding the MCC’s handling of Epstein continues to play into conspiracy theories surrounding his death, with one camera filming the pod Epstein was detained in failing to record footage the night he died.

Polling at the time of Epstein’s death suggests only a third of Americans believe the pedophile financier actually killed himself. A narrow plurality believe he was murdered to cover up information regarding the oligarch’s pedophile activities, with a similar percentage of Americans uncertain.
