Punk Icon Glenn Danzig Says ‘Punk Explosion’ Could Not Happen Today Due to ‘Cancel Culture and Woke Bullsh*t’

Punk Icon Glenn Danzig recently made comments against “cancel culture and woke bullsh*t” while explaining how the leftist ideology is stifling the creativity of artists.

The lead singer of The Misfits spoke to the Rolling Stone where he claimed that the “punk explosion” of the 1970s and 1980s could not happen in this era because of the regime of political correctness put into place today by woke liberals.

“We would do things just to piss people off,” Danzig said about some of his band’s more insane and extreme lyrics, such as, “I raped your mother today/And it doesn’t matter much to me/As long as she spread.”

He described his ethos and the ethos of other punk rock pioneers as “f*ck everybody. F*ck you, f*ck you, f*ck you, f*ck the world,” adding that “it was just like, ‘F*ck your system, f*ck all this bullsh*t.’ It was something else.”

This type of cutting edge expression is no longer permissible because of the Orwellian system of repression being enforced by the leftist cultural revolution. Now, individuals stay quiet because they fear reprisal from the mob.

“I don’t think people will ever see anything like it again,” Danzig said. “There won’t be any new bands coming out like that. Now, they will immediately get canceled.”

“People don’t understand, because everything’s so cancel-culture, woke bullsh*t nowadays, but you could never have the punk explosion nowadays, because of cancel culture and woke bullsh*t. You could never have it. It would never have happened,” he continued.

“We’re lucky it happened when it did, because it’ll never happen again,” Danzig added. “You won’t have any of those kinds of bands ever again. Everyone’s so uptight and P.C., it’s just like, “OK, whatever.”‘

Big League Politics has reported on how cancel culture has gone so far overboard that even certain leftists are beginning to turn against it:

A group of prominent leftist authors, academics, journalists, policy makers and lobbyists have signed onto a letter begging the left-wing mob to stop its relentless assault on freedom of expression.

The letter, which has been published by Harper’s Magazine, was signed by 150 people including Steven Pinker, Fareed Zakaria, Noam Chomsky, J.K. Rowling, David Frum, Margaret Atwood, and Salman Rushdie. It pleads with the mob to stop their common practice of destroying anyone with whom they disagree.

“Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial. Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and inclusion across our society, not least in higher education, journalism, philanthropy, and the arts,” the letter reads, showing that the leftists continue to pay lip service to the overall aims of the marxist mob.

However, the authors complain about an “intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity.”

… However, these leftists are too little too late with their effort because the mob has grown too powerful. Most of these individuals were silent when their political opposition was being targeted by the mob. Because they lacked the courage to stand up for freedom when it could have mattered, they have the well-earned misfortune of being cannibalized by the mob as well.”

Even though more people are becoming annoyed with cancel culture, it will continue to gain momentum until the interests perpetrating this conspiracy to destroy free speech and human creativity are stopped and swiftly brought to justice.
