Republican Lawmakers Want to Censure Mad Maxine, Call for Resignation

First reported by The Hill, a Republican lawmaker is calling for the resignation of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) after her recent rhetoric encouraging harassment of supporters of President Donald J. Trump.

“[Waters‘ comments] do not become somebody who’s in Congress,” said Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ). “So we just introduced it, we have some co-sponsors, but what she did was to basically incite people to come after and attack members of the president’s Cabinet. And also spread that out to more people.”

Waters has been publicly screeching for days about stepping up the “resistance” against Trump.

Big League Politics reported:

“‘And I want to tell you,’ [Waters] said in the interview, ‘for these members of his Cabinet who remain and try to defend him, they’re not going to be able to go to a restaurant, to be able to stop at a gas station, to be able to shop at a department store. The people are going to turn on them, they’re going to protest, they’re going to absolutely harass them until they tell the president: ‘No, I can’t hang with you.’

On Saturday, Waters has echoed a similar tune during a rally.

‘The American people have put up with this president long enough. What more do we need to see? What more lies do we need to hear?’ she yelled. ‘If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them!’

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielson was chased out of a Mexican restaurant last week, as was senior Trump advisor Stephen Miller. Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was refused service at a Lexington, VA restaurant Saturday.”

BLP Passage Ends.

The censure measure would call for Waters to apologize to the White House, resign, and acknowledge in writing that she was wrong to incite harassment against Trump supporters. It specifically accuses Waters of “endangering their lives and sowing seeds of discord.”

Waters has wanted to impeach Trump since before he was elected. Her rhetoric has only escalated since then, an she shows no signs of slowing. The fact that it took so long to censure her in the first place is a miracle in itself.

Republican lawmakers are doing what is responsible, calling for her to step down before her rhetoric someone causes someone to get injured or killed.
