Republican Senators Calling for Investigation Into Failure to Deport DACA Illegal That Killed Four Retired Police In DUI Manslaughter

Nine Republican Senators are calling for an investigation as to why a DACA illegal alien recently arrested for killing four retired police officers in an intoxication manslaughter in Texas. Ivan Robles Navejas is being detained in the Kerr County, Texas jail under a DHS immigration hold, after authorities charged him with killing four members of a Thin Blue Line Motorcycle Club on the Medina highway. Navejas was intoxicated when he crossed the lane of the highway, barrelling into nine members of the biking club.

Najevas is an illegal alien who was enrolled in the Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals program in 2013. His protection from deportation in the program wasn’t revoked in 2015, after he was previously convicted of a DUI, as the Obama administration didn’t consider the charge worthy of deportation. He was also charged with resisting arrest in 2015 and aggravated assault in 2018, but it’s unclear if he was convicted on the latter charges.

Nine Senators are urging ICE to investigate why the seeming repeat offender wasn’t originally deported after his 2013 DUI.

Sens. Kelly Loeffler (GA), Ted Cruz (TX), Josh Hawley (MO), Thom Tillis (NC), Tom Cotton (AR), Joni Ernst (IA), Marsha Blackburn (TN) and Mike Lee (UT) signed onto a letter from Iowa’s Chuck Grassley questioning the failure of the immigration enforcement system to remove him from the country.

On July 18, 2020, Mr. Navejas’ multi-year crime spree in the United States tragically culminated in him drunkenly driving his vehicle into a group of motorcyclists riding with the Thin Blue Line Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club in Kerr County, Texas…The four individuals killed included a police sergeant, a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army, a retired police detective, and a police officer and retired Army officer.

Furthermore, we were also disturbed to read that Mr. Navejas was shielded from deportation with status granted under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2013.3 After his DACA status subsequently expired in 2015, he remained unlawfully present in the United States without consequence and was afforded the opportunity to re-offend.

Four Americans with distinguished track records of public service are now dead from the heinous DUI manslaughter that could’ve been easily prevented through strict enforcement of immigration laws.
