Right Wingers are Calling for a Boycott of Chick-fil-A

Right-wing activists have been calling for a boycott of Chick-fil-A after the company announced several diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
The company has intensified its DEI campaign nationwide in recent years, which have angered right-wingers. For years, Chick-fil-A has positioned itself as a pro-Christian company.
However, its recent woke turn has unsettled many conservatives who have started to organize mass boycotts against companies such as Anheuser-Busch InBev and Target for their embrace of woke DEI initiatives. As a result, these companies’ stock prices have taken a beating.
Chick-fil-A recently sparked a major controversy after political strategist Joey Mannarino posted a tweet on May 29, 2023 announcing that “Chick-Fil-A just hired a VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”
The next day on May 30 Mannarino posted a tweet with a poll asking “are we boycotting Chick-Fil-A over this or no?”
Over 110,000 people voted in the poll and 53.4% responded “No, do not boycott” while 46.6% who chose “Yes, boycott.”
Erick McReynolds, Chick-fil-A’s VP of diversity, equity and inclusion, previously held the position of executive director of DEI from July 2020 until November 2021.
Chick-fil-A’s religious views are well-known, especially its practice of closing its restaurants every Sunday. On top of that, the business and its foundation have received criticism for donating to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations. However, its decision to go woke has angered many right-wingers who have long held the company in high esteem for its ostensive commitment to socially conservative values.
The company stated on its DEI website that its corporate mission is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us.”
Using 2017 tax filings, a 2019 report published by ThinkProgress discovered that the Chick-fil-A Foundation donated $1.8 million to organizations that oppose the LGBTQ agenda, which includes the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Due to the broader woke shift occurring in America, even ostensive right-wing entities are being subsumed by wokism. Chick-fil-A has been no exception to this trend.
Companies who partake in this nonsense need to be punished, whether it’s through the removal of subsidies, special tax status, or the use of state force to get them back in line. Such degenerate behavior should not be tolerated.
