RUFO: DeSantis’ New Legislation ‘Aboishes Racialist Abuse In The Workplace’

Critical Race theory opponent and well-known journalist Christopher Rufo recently praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for introducing legislation to ban the racist framework in schools and corporate offices alike statewide.

The bill, called the Stop Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act (Stop W.O.K.E. Act) will according to its press release go “on the offense against both corporate wokeness and critical race theory in our schools.” The Florida governor’s legislation was introduced this past Wednesday.

The Florida Department of Education had previously enacted a rule designed to prevent CRT-inspired content in the state’s K-12 schools, both public and private.

Rufo, who according to Fox played a vital role in drafting the legislation, told Fox News on Thursday the law “abolishes and bans racialist abuse in the classroom and in the workplace.”

“It codifies exactly what that means and then gives parents and employees the actual ability to sue schools and employers that racially stereotype, scapegoat, or demean them on the basis of race,” Rufo told “Fox News Primetime.”

Governor DeSantis has emphatically condemned critical race theory  (CRT) — a racist framework that seeks to divide students against each other based on skin color by forcing a worldview consisting of ‘oppressors’ and the ‘oppressed.’ Both categories often defined through immutable characteristics, especially ethnicity as the framework seeks to discover so-called ‘systemic-racism’ beneath the surface of society.

“Florida’s civics curriculum will incorporate foundational concepts with the best materials and it will expressly exclude unsanctioned narratives like critical race theory and other unsubstantiated theories,” DeSantis said in March.

Rufo also said that the new law deems practice of CRT in the classroom “illegal” and aims to return the power of education to parents.

“Parents can actually take this to the principal school board attorney general and into the court to say, ‘If you are promoting racialist ideology, you are abusing kids, you are violating the law,’ and then the parents can actually win legal fees in return,” he continued.

“It’s designed to divide us, and we have to put our foot down,” Rufo said, while also encouraging parents to “rise up and say, ‘We won’t tolerate racist abuse, we won’t tolerate racial segregation, and we won’t tolerate a curriculum that tarnishes the United States and seeks to destroy our fundamental and funding institutions.’”

Rufo then pointed to a Twitter post from a Colorado elementary school advertising a segregated playground event for “students of color.” White kids need not apply.

“It’s so toxic — it’s absurd,” he said. “It’s just disgusting that we even have to consider this.”
