Russian Authorities Warn that US Foreign Policy Risks Causing a Direct Clash of Nuclear Powers
In an interview with Russian state media outlet TASS, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that the Collective West is bringing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Russia on the brink of a nuclear clash.
In Lavrov’s view, the Collective West is pushing “irresponsible speculations that Russia is allegedly on the brink of using nuclear weapons against Ukraine.”
“We are speaking about absolutely different matters here – the political course of the West, which is aimed at the total restraint of Russia, is extremely dangerous. It bears downside risks of a direct armed clash of nuclear powers,” Lavrov proclaimed.
The Russian foreign minister stressed that no one wins in a nuclear war and “it must never be unleashed.”
Lavrov noted that Western leaders continue to indulge in fantasies about a nuclear conflict and heightening tensions with Russia.
“We are deeply concerned to state the fact of the propagandistic mayhem rhetoric in the United States and in the West in general regarding the nuclear weapons issue,” the foreign minister expressed.
Lavrov believes that Western officials’ references to “some unverified quotes coming from the Russian political administration” with regards to nuclear weapons usage are nonsense. He argued that “no such statements [were] made.”
The Collective West has gotten itself tangled up in a dangerous proxy conflict. Russia is no Iraq or Afghanistan. It’s a nuclear power that counts on a vast nuclear arsenal of 5,977 nuclear warheads.
It has escalatory dominance, home-field advantage in essence, in Ukraine. So any further Western aid sent to Ukraine will result in further suffering and merely prolong the inevitable — a Ukrainian defeat.
Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail here. Further escalation could lead to a nuclear catastrophe of cataclysmic proportions.
