Russian Diplomat Says Russia Fighting the Western Military Industrial Complex in Ukraine
In an interview with TASS, Alexey Polishchuk, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second CIS Department, said that Russo-Ukrainian conflict goes beyond Russia and Ukraine. Polishchuk argues that Russia is facing off against “Ukraine’s military-industrial conglomerate with NATO.”
“It is not easy to speak about the prospects of diplomatic settlement now. In fact, we deal not with Kiev. It is a weapon in the hands of the West, mainly the US. Practically Russia is standing not against Ukraine, but against the NATO-Ukrainian military-industrial conglomerate, in which the Ukrainians serve the functions of an instrument for the military struggle with Russia, whereas the countries of the alliance have the role of rear, the supplier of weapons, intelligence products and target assignments,” he commented.
The Russian diplomat claims that there have allegedly been multiple mediation offers, with “their number already reaching around 20. Unfortunately, not all of them are sincere and deserve to be trusted. First of all, it concerns the countries that have imposed illegal sanctions against Russia and supply arms to Ukraine, thus turning it into a conflict party. It is incomprehensible how it can work with their mediatory ambitions,” he continued .
Indeed, the Russo-Ukrainian conflict is more than a Slav-on-Slav scuffle. It has now transformed into a de facto global conflict between Russia and the Collective West, with the latter trying to arm Ukraine to the hilt in an effort to bleed out Russia militarily. Add in the sanctions war the Collective West has launched against Russia, and you have what amounts to full spectrum conflict. The only thing missing is a direct clash between Russian and NATO forces.
Hopefully, realist inclined politicians step up to the plate and offer up a proactive solution to this conflict. If no solution is presented here, we could be staring down the barrel of a nuclear conflict — a lose-lose scenario if there ever was one.
