Russian President Vladimir Putin Announces Partial Military Mobilization

In a pre-recorded televised announcement that was released on September 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial military mobilization for Russian citizens. In effect, the Russian state has put the people on a wartime footing while Russia military operation in Ukraine continues apace.

During the speech, Putin declared that the West “wants to destroy our country” and asserted that the West had attempted to “turn Ukraine’s people into cannon fodder.”

In essence, Putin believes the Collective West has launched a proxy war against Russia.

Putin announced that “mobilization events” would start on September 21.

Under a partial mobilization, Russian businesses and citizens would have to pitch in more to help the Russian state prosecute its military operation in Ukraine.

Russia’s partial mobilization came in response to Ukraine’s counter-offensives in Kherson and Kharkov, the latter which saw Ukraine make nominal territorial gains that made Western commentators giddy despite evidence showing that this tactical victory for Ukraine would not turn the tide of the conflict in Ukraine’s favor in the grand scheme of things.

The oblasts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhya are also set to hold referendums to join Russia. Should Russia annex these oblasts, it will technically be justified to use military force — even nuclear — given how these regions will technically be considered as part of Russia’s sovereign territory.

In a similar vein, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu declared during an interview that “Russia is at war with the collective West,” since Ukraine itself “has long since run out of weapons,” referencing the seemingly ceaseless deluge of weapons the West is proving Ukraine.

Russia has a marked military advantage against Ukraine. With Russia ramping up its military resources to continue confronting Ukraine, this conflict will only grow more violent and less favorable for Ukraine.

A sober ruling class in the Collective West would do everything possible to bring this horrific conflict to an end. If this war continues apace, the Ukrainian state will be on the path to disappearance, or at least drastically truncated.
