San Francisco’s Population Plummets

Thanks to spiraling drug rates and out-of-control crime, San Francisco’s population has plummeted by more than 100,000 residents from 2020 to 2021.

The city’s once-vibrant downtown area is now a virtual ghost town, with businesses boarded up and windows broken. Even the famed Golden Gate Bridge has been deserted by tourists.

As one resident put it, “The city feels like a war zone.” Another said, “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. The city is falling apart.”

Many factors contributed to San Francisco’s decline, but perhaps the biggest one is its failure to address its growing homeless problem. The second would likely be the demonization of policing – where departments are understaffed and overworked.

For years, the city has turned a blind eye to these issues, so now people are fleeing.

Richie Greenberg, a former Republican candidate for San Francisco mayor, is refusing to leave the city, however, despite the plummeting population. Sharing in a recent interview with Fox News, “I’ve been here 20 something years … I would not leave. We are fighting for this city.”

Greenberg is not alone in his frustrations with the Democrat-run city when he says “too many people across the city, don’t feel safe.”

Noting the vast number of needles, human waste on the streets, and the growing number of homeless encampments across the city. Each with virtually no signs of slowing down.

Even Mayor London Breed acknowledged the rise of rampant vandalism, car and home break-ins, drug use, and gun violence in her city during her “State of the City” speech on March 9.

Of course, Breed still had to use her platform to smear “right-wing media” for producing “a lot of noise” about what is happening in San Francisco’. Even though the actual numbers paint a much different story than what Democrats want the public to believe.

For instance, according to San Francisco Travel, the city’s tourism industry has lost $11.75 billion since the pandemic started. As tourism was notably down 44% from a record high back in 2019.

Per the San Francisco Chronicle, shootings jumped 33% from 2020 to 2021. And as of March 21, there have been 100 homicides in the city — more than double the same time last year.

These are just some examples that show how San Francisco’s population has plummeted due to out-of-control conditions. Including the kinds of things that one would never have expected to see in a first-world country just a few years prior.

Unless something changes soon, more American cities like San Fransisco will continue to decline.

Democrats have had complete control of San Francisco for decades now. And if they can’t turn the tide on the growing crime and homelessness crisis – it’s only going to get worse from here.

It’s no wonder more and more families are ditching big cities for rural America.
