Scientific Journal Forced to Retract ‘Landmark’ Climate Change Study Due to Falsehoods

The journal Nature had to retract the study that claimed oceans were warming due to climate change.

The scientific community was forced to admit that they published fake news and had to retract a false study in the prestigious journal Nature last week.

The journal admitted that a study that indicated oceans were warming rapidly due to the effects of climate change was false. It was initially published in the journal on Oct. 31, 2018, and conducted by academics at the University of California, San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The researchers refused to admit that their results were faulty despite the fact they owned up to making certain errors that affected the results of their work.

They released the following statement at the behest of the journal:

Shortly after publication, arising from comments from Nicholas Lewis, we realized that our reported uncertainties were underestimated owing to our treatment of certain systematic errors as random errors. In addition, we became aware of several smaller issues in our analysis of uncertainty. Although correcting these issues did not substantially change the central estimate of ocean warming, it led to a roughly fourfold increase in uncertainties, significantly weakening implications for an upward revision of ocean warming and climate sensitivity. Because of these weaker implications, the Nature editors asked for a Retraction, which we accept. Despite the revised uncertainties, our method remains valid and provides an estimate of ocean warming that is independent of the ocean data underpinning other approaches. The revised paper, with corrected uncertainties, will be submitted to another journal. The Retraction will contain a link to the new publication, if and when it is published.

Lewis, a mathematician who is skeptical of the so-called scientific consensus on climate change, wrote a paper in Aug. 2018 debunking the study.

“The headlines all said that the oceans were warming even faster than previously thought. Unfortunately, the authors seem to have made several quite important errors and inappropriate comparisons. Ocean warming appears to be very much in line with earlier IPCC estimates, when correctly calculated, and slower over the last decade or so than predicted by climate models,” Lewis said about the phony conclusions released in the paper he debunked.

Undaunted by the set-back, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued their report about the dangers of ocean warming on the same day the retraction was made. They will continue fanning the flames of hysteria to push their far-left globalist agenda regardless of the facts.

The UN report claims that satellite imagery has shown that “marine heatwaves (periods of extremely high ocean surface temperatures) have very likely doubled in frequency from 1982 to 2016 and that they have also become longer-lasting, more intense and more extensive.”

They also estimate that “between 84% and 90% of marine heatwaves that occurred between 2006 and 2015 can be attributed to anthropogenic (human-caused) warming.”

However, with all of the falsehoods and failed predictions spread by globalists about climate change, it is hard to take their doomsday prognostications very seriously.

As Trump Leaves Office, Media Cites Ineffectiveness of Lockdowns and Democratic Leaders Display Eagerness to Reopen

Right on cue.

With President Donald Trump’s impending exit from the White House, many are starting to perceive pivots from Democratic leaders and the mainstream media on the ineffectiveness of lockdowns and the reopening of society.

For example, Newsweek ran an article Thursday titled “COVID Lockdowns May Have No Clear Benefit vs Other Voluntary Measures, International Study Shows.” The study, published in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation, found through a mathematical model that there was “no clear, significant beneficial effect of [more restrictive measures] on [COVID-19] case growth in any country.”

This is just one study, of course, so it may not reflect objective reality any more than one study which concludes that lockdowns saved “millions of lives.” But after getting bombarded with messages from the media that lockdowns were necessary—with the opposite message found only on explicitly conservative outlets like Big League Politics—it may seem too coincidental to see such a story while the changing of the presidential guard takes place.

Not only that, it also comes at a time when some Democratic leaders appear to be chomping at the bit to reopen restaurants, bars, and schools—after several months of harsh insistence that they all must stay closed in the name of “safety” and “public health.”

On Monday, for example, Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York called for the reopening of the state’s economy “smartly and safely.”

“We simply cannot stay closed until the vaccine hits critical mass. The cost is too high. We will have nothing left to open. We must reopen the economy, but we must do it smartly and safely,” Cuomo tweeted.

Mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot put out a similar call on Thursday, saying that bars and restaurants need to reopen “as quickly as possible” because it will help those businesses survive and reduce the number of large private parties and gatherings.

And incoming president Joe Biden recently pitched a $175 billion plan to return children to school, $130 billion of which would be for public elementary, middle, and high schools, the other $35 billion for colleges and universities. Many teachers unions stubbornly refused to return to in-person classes for the longest time, but now that Biden has come out in support of in-person classes, don’t be surprised to see them suddenly change their tune.

The left is so predictable, isn’t it?
