Secret Service Says Jan. 6 Commission Did Not Consult Them Before Airing Hutchinson’s Testimony

The Secret Service is saying the Jan. 6 commission did not consult them before allowing public testimony from former Trump White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.

Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the Secret Service, said that investigators for the committee did not ask personnel about Hutchinson’s claims, which included that Trump lunged for the wheel in a limousine demanding to go to the Capitol while being evacuated on Jan. 6.

“[W]e were not asked to reappear before the Committee in response to yesterday’s new information and we plan on formally responding on the record,” he wrote in an email. “We have and will continue to make any member of the Secret Service available.”

Despite the apparent dishonesty of her testimony, Hutchinson is sticking to her story and waiting to be offered a regular paycheck by CNN or MSNBC.

“Ms. Hutchinson stands by all of the testimony she provided yesterday, under oath, to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol,” said Hutchinson’s attorneys, Jody Hunt and William Jordan of Alston Bird.

Big League Politics reported on Hutchinson’s histrionic testimony, which was presented as canon by the fake news media without any fact checking:

Today at the Jan. 6 committee hearing, Cassidy Hutchinson, who was aide to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the Trump White House, claimed the president demanded for secret service to take him to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

During the heat of the riot, President Trump wanted to be with his supporters and fought with secret service who wanted to keep Trump away from the chaotic events unfolding at the Capitol.

“I’m the f**king president, take me up to the Capitol now!” Trump reportedly said.

After Trump’s head security detail Bobby Engel refused to comply with the President’s orders, Trump “reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel,” according to Hutchinson, and “then used his free hand to lunge toward Bobby Engel.”

Hutchinson’s testimony can be seen here:

While Hutchinson may be overdramatizing or embellishing these details, they only make President Trump look like a leader who deeply cares about his supporters and wants to be by their side through thick and thin.

Hutchinson is just another “empowered” woman lying to the cameras for personal gain in the age of #metoo. She will never be held accountable for her falsehoods, but ultimately her words will not resonate with the broader public who doesn’t care about Jan. 6.
