Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Betrays Trump, Refuses to Sign Afghanistan Peace Treaty

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who hated President Donald Trump before he wormed his way into the administration, is undermining President Trump’s peace plan in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is the longest war in American history and has continued for nearly two decades without any real semblance of progress. Trump, who promised an “America First” foreign policy, has prepared a peace deal with the Taliban to bring troops home. Pompeo reportedly has refused to sign the agreement.
The plan would remove 5,400 U.S. troops from the region within 135 days from five bases in Afghanistan, with the possibility of more troops being removed in the future. Pompeo strongly objects with Trump’s plan to remove one third of the troops currently stationed in Afghanistan and is apparently willing to abuse his power to obstruct the President’s peace achievement.
Despite Pompeo’s obstruction, the deal is expected to go forward without his cooperation. The deal is the handiwork of U.S. envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, who met in Qatar with Taliban representatives on nine separate occasions. Khalilzad may sign the agreement himself or the U.S. and Taliban may issue a joint statement that will effectuate the new troop withdrawal.
Pompeo is working with Never Trumpers, such as those on the globalist Atlantic Council, pushing for endless war in Afghanistan. They released a letter criticizing Trump’s ‘America First’ foreign policy on Tuesday.
“… it is not clear whether peace is possible. The Taliban have made no clear statements about the conditions they would accept for a peaceful settlement with their fellow Afghans, nor do they have a track record of working with other political forces,” the Atlantic Council wrote.
The Atlantic Council even had the audacity to claim that American troops have to stay in the country and continue spilling their blood in order to promote feminist objectives in Afghanistan.
“We do believe that to protect our security interests we must not leave completely until peace is achieved. Further, we must not betray all those who have believed our promises or stepped forward with our encouragement to promote democracy and human rights including highly important progress in women’s rights. We must not yank so much support from our Afghan friends that they are unable to protect themselves or the chance to keep moving forward with a representative democracy,” they wrote.
In addition to sabotaging Trump’s foreign policy goals, Pompeo has quietly led the charge for the infiltration of the Trump administration with ‘Never Trump’ operatives gunning to sabotage the President’s ‘America First’ agenda.
Mary Kissel, who Trump once called a “major loser,” was hired by Pompeo as a senior adviser in the State Department despite opposing her boss on every single one of his policies. Pompeo also hired James Jeffrey as his envoy for the Syrian war despite the fact that he was a ‘Never Trumper’ who signed a pro-Hillary Clinton letter arguing that Trump was “a dangerous president [who] would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being” in 2016.
In Pompeo’s most egregious betrayal of Trump, he hired Elliott Abrams – the disgraced war criminal who supported the Iraq War and perjured himself by lying to Congress over the Iran/Contra scandal – as the Venezuelan envoy despite Abrams’ long-stated goal for the GOP establishment to “seize the party machinery back immediately after the Trump defeat.”
Until an “America First” patriot replaces Pompeo as Secretary of State, Trump’s agenda is not safe from the plotting of the enemy within his midst.
