Sens. Chuck Grassley and Josh Hawley Demand Answers Following Whistleblower Revelations on Biden Social Media Censorship
Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) have penned an open letter referencing whistleblower files showing that Biden’s truth regime is planning on imposing top-down censorship on private social media platforms.
They wrote the letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas detailing the potential constitutional violations being perpetrated through the proposed Disinformation Governance Board (DGB).
“Collectively, whistleblower allegations and the documents we’ve reviewed raise concerns that DHS could be seeking an active role in coordinating the censorship of viewpoints that it determines, according to an unknown standard, to be “MDM” by enlisting the help of social media companies and big tech,” the senators wrote, with “MDM” referring to “mis-, dis-, and mal-information.”
“The DGB’s charter also specifically states that the DGB should “serv[e] as the Department’s internal and external point of contact for coordination with state, local, tribal, and territorial partners, the private sector, and nongovernmental actors regarding MDM,” Grassley and Hawley added.
The lawmakers questioned DHS on their collusion with monopoly tech companies, such as Google, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter, to enact censorship and demanded that DHS provide specific documentation on the DGB’s formation and selection of leadership.
“The First Amendment of the Constitution was designed precisely so that the government could not censor opposing viewpoints – even if those viewpoints were false. DHS should not in any way seek to enlist the private sector to curb or silence opposing viewpoints. It is therefore imperative for DHS to provide additional clarity regarding its policies and procedures for identifying and addressing “MDM,” as well as its efforts to “operationalize” public-private partnerships and the steps it is taking to ensure that it does not infringe on the constitutional rights of American citizens,” Grassley and Hawley wrote.
Big League Politics reported on how the DGB became a national laughingstock shortly after it was announced:
“President Joe Biden’s newly-created Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board has already become a total laughing stock. As videos of its already embattled chief, Nina Jankowicz, have gone viral showcasing her singing about disinformation to the tune of the “Mary Poppins” song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”
… The Board’s very existence is a testament to the fact that these institutions are more concerned with preserving their own power than they are with serving the public.
In case you missed it: The Disinformation Governance Board, now dubbed by conservatives as the modern-day “Ministry of Truth,” was created in response to the spread of “disinformation” online, which is defined as “false or misleading information that is spread deliberately.”
But it is not clear how the Board intends to distinguish between genuine misinformation and opinions that simply differ from those of the mainstream media.
All that aside, critics have been quick to shed light on the fact that Nina Jankowicz is just 33 years old. Not to mention, she has only been working in the field of “disinformation” for a few years.”
Even though Jankowicz has been removed from the project, the DGB remains just as dangerous to civil liberties. The Biden regime is at war with the Constitution.
