SHOCKER: New Study Says Lockdowns Caused Minimum Of 170,000+ Excess Deaths
Are people still sincerely arguing that lockdowns benefitted society? Certainly not the group at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), which concluded that there were at least 170,000+ non-Covid excess deaths in the United States from 2020 to 2021 in a new study.
The study noted that the actual number of excess deaths is likely closer to 200,000 as over 70,000 fatalities could be classified as “unmeasured Covid deaths,” which is to say people who may have only died with the virus as opposed to directly from it.
“Summing our estimates across causes and age groups, we estimate 171,000 excess non-Covid deaths through the end of 2021 plus 72,000 unmeasured Covid deaths,” wrote the researchers. “The Economist has assembled national-level mortality data from around the world and obtains a similar U.S. estimate, which is 199,000 (including any unmeasured Covid) or about 60 persons per 100,000 population (Global Change Data Lab 2022).”
Disgraced infectious diseases “expert” Anthony Fauci has admitted to the likely overcounting of Covid-related incidents in the past; he stated in December of 2021 that an “important thing is that if you look at the children who are hospitalized, many of them are hospitalized with Covid as opposed to because of Covid,” he continued, emphasizing the issue of overcounting. “What we mean by that — if a child goes in the hospital, they automatically get tested for Covid. And they get counted as a Covid-hospitalized individual. When in fact, they may go in for a broken leg or appendicitis or something like that. So, it’s over-counting the number of children who are, quote, ‘hospitalized with Covid,’ as opposed to because of Covid.”
They additionally noted that excess deaths did not affect the elderly alone, writing that “while Covid deaths overwhelmingly afflict senior citizens, absolute numbers of non-Covid excess deaths are similar for each of the 18-44, 45-64, and over-65 age groups, with essentially no aggregate excess deaths of children. Mortality from all causes during the pandemic was elevated 26 percent for working-age adults (18-64), as compared to 18 percent for the elderly.”
Researchers of NBER pointed out that such excess deaths were not limited to the United States alone. They noted that the European Union saw similar results, with a near-identical estimate of 64 non-Covid excess deaths per 100K.
Also mentioned was that unlike the United States or European Union, “the estimate for [excess deaths in] Sweden is -33, meaning that non-Covid causes of death were somewhat low during the pandemic.”

Figures released by the World Health Organization last May further substantiated the claims by the study. A report from the Telegraph stated that “in 2020 and 2021, [Sweden] had an average excess death rate of 56 per 100,000 – compared to 109 in the UK, 111 in Spain, 116 in Germany and 133 in Italy.”
