Sidney Powell, Lin Wood Ordered to Pay Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars to State of Michigan, City of Detroit

A group of lawyers who took up the mantle of litigating claims of mass election fraud in contested swing states in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election have been ordered to pay $175,000 to the state of Michigan and the city of Detroit.

A US District Court judge appointed by Barack Obama held a group of nine attorneys including Lin Wood and Sidney Powell responsible for the legal fees incurred by the city and the state. Judge Linda Parker, a judge appointed by Democrat Barack Obama, had herself dismissed Powell’s Michigan lawsuit, accusing the former prosecutor’s fraud case of presenting “nothing but speculation and conjecture” without hard evidence of electoral theft.

Judge Parker is holding the litigants responsible for $21,964 in costs owed to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and $153,285 to the city of Detroit.

Powell attracted attention in making a series of dramatic claims surrounding alleged fraud plots in the aftermath of the 2020 election, claiming that the nation of Venezuela had orchestrated a hack of the 2020 election through insider access to Dominion Voting Systems. Promising a legal ‘Kraken’ lawsuit that would nail alleged election fraudsters, Powell ultimately withdrew most of her lawsuits after President Trump’s legal team distanced itself from some of her more sensational claims.

Parker has also mandated that the two attorneys conduct a minimum of twelve hours of “continuing legal education,” suggesting she’d refer them to disciplinary proceedings that could potentially lead to their disbarment if they failed to comply.

Powell has pledged that she’ll appeal Judge Parker’s ruling, describing the judge as politically biased in a statement released through a spokesperson. Powell also faces an effort to slap her with legal sanctions and court fees in the state of Wisconsin, with the state claiming she owes them more than $100,000 in legal costs.
