Ted Cruz & Other Republicans Call To Force Masks On Unvaccinated Americans

In a recent press release, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and several other Republicans called for an end to mask mandates for vaccinated Americans only on airplanes and other forms of federally regulated travel. Cruz joined forces with Susan Collins (R-Maine), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), with all of the backers claiming that the mask is no longer necessary because “experts” have deemed COVID-19 vaccinated Americans as allowed to breathe without obstruction.

Per Senator Cruz’s press release, the team “introduced a resolution calling on the Biden administration’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to end its mask mandate for fully vaccinated individuals on public transportation throughout the United States-including at airports, on commercial airplanes, on buses, and rail systems.”

Upon introduction of this resolution, Sen. Cruz said:

“Over 150 million people in the United States are fully vaccinated and mask mandates have been lifted across the country. But the CDC inexplicably still hasn’t lifted the mask mandate for public transportation. It’s long past time for President Biden and the CDC to follow the science and end this mask mandate for fully vaccinated individuals. Americans should be able to travel to celebrate Independence Day with their friends and loved ones without having to follow an outdated and unnecessary mandate.”

Several other Republicans weighed in as well, with Senator Blackburn adding “Joe Biden has lectured Americans to ‘follow the science.’ It’s clear that this rhetoric was just another way for the radical left and big government to control Americans. Experts have been clear for months – if you are vaccinated you do not need to wear a mask. It’s time we end these absurd political charades and start following the science.”

Senator Moran echoed similar sentiments, saying “requiring vaccinated passengers on trains and airplanes to continue wearing masks doesn’t follow the science, and the CDC and TSA should update their guidance to reflect their own findings and help us safely return travel to normal.”

The language of the press release, Cruz himself, and the other Republicans were clear, indicating that they do not believe that Americans who have refused the COVID-19 vaccination deserve to have their previous normal lives restored. They also offered no support for the rights of those who have naturally acquired immunity from the virus, which is at least as effective as the vaccine or better.

Such stances are considered to be a betrayal by millions of constituents around the country, with nearly 30 percent of Republicans indicating that they do not plan to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, none of which are approved by the FDA.
