Teenager Beats Incumbent For School Board Seat After Covid-19 Policies Ruined His Senior Year
Nicholas Seppy, a New Jersey teenager, won a seat at his local school board election after Covid-19 policies interfered with his entire senior year of high school.
Seppy, who said in an interview that the Covid shutdowns were “awful,” stated that he ran for school board “out of a desire to serve in [his] community” and to “give parents a voice in the district.”
The 19-year-old, who graduated in 2020 from Egg Harbor Township High School in South Jersey’s Atlantic County, beat long-time incumbent Terre Alabarda for a seat on the school board. Seppy reportedly beat Alabarda by a massive margin of 17-points, earning 4,042 votes to Alabarda’s 2,830.
This election to the school board is not Seppy’s first run in the rodeo, the recent high school graduate previously served as the student representative of the same board during the 2019-20 school year. Seppy focused his campaign on a promise to promote policies that put the students first above all else.
The College Fix reported that Seppy’s online Instagram profile shows a picture of a very patriotic young man, with posts of American flags, gratitude for the military, Mount Rushmore, and the U.S. Constitution.
Americans around the country have been rising up in various capacities to take their country back, with notable examples as of late being the harrowingly close election in New Jersey between incumbent Democrat Governor Phil Murphy and Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli. Murphy was projected to win the race by a narrow margin of less than 2 percent, paling in comparison to Biden’s 16 point lead against Former President Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
Also notable was the election of GOP nominee Glenn Youngkin for governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Youngkin beat former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe (D) by a healthy margin, sending shockwaves in a state won by a Democrat presidential candidate just one year prior.
